Many of these songs I sang in my concerts long before I recorded them—some as singles. When I put them all together, the inspiration behind all these songs (and their appeal to me and to my audience) became clear—the need for a break.
Not just a quick rest after a hard day’s work, a therapeutic shoe shopping trip, or a yearly structured, over-planned vacation, but a chance to come to a complete stop: when thoughts and
inner voices are silenced and still, and all worries, fears and anxieties subside.
I tried to express that same need, although in different phases of life, in Only 16, Need a Break, Let Them Fly, and I Pray. And with songs like: I Heard the Voice, Be Thou My Vision, and Awesome God… we are reminded that the centuries old search for peace is only possible
when one’s heart is in harmony with God.
